After playing a bodyguard’s role in latest film ‘Kaavalan’, which was markedly ‘different’ from the roles he takes on usually, Vijay is back to what he knows best: to entertain the audience to the hilt. ‘Velayudham’, his upcoming film which has Genelia and Hansika playing the female leads opposite him, promises to be a wholesome entertainer targeting the actor’s fans at all levels.
The film has five songs out of which four of them have been shot at an expense of Rs.8 crores which would mean that each of these four songs have cost the producer a cool Rs.2 crores! The customary ‘introduction’ song of Vijay has been filmed at the scenic Thirumoorthimalai. Noted choreographer Ashok Raj, who had earlier worked with Vijay in films like ‘Sivakasi’ and ‘Pokkiri’, has choreographed this song.
Set in a folk-style dancing, the opening song includes several dance forms that are still prevailing in the countryside. Besides Vijay, as many as 200 local dancers and 150 foreigners have danced for this song, it is learnt. Journalist-turned-lyricist Annamalai, who had penned lyrics in Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’, has written 3 songs for ‘Velayudham’.
The opening song would be performed live by foreign artistes as well as locals when the audio-launch of the film would be held in Madurai on 28th August. Readers might recall that Vijay had heaped praise on the song ‘En Rathathin Rathamae…’ by saying that in all his films, he has never lip-synched for a more enjoyable song. Though the song is sung by Vijay for his sister in the film, the song might go on to become his ‘signature song’ in future.
As his ‘Kaavalan’ grossed more in Madurai district more than it did in other districts, Vijay is hosting the audio-launch at Madurai, it is informed by a source close to the actor!
