Donning the typical Tamil costume of paavadai-dhavani (Half Saree-a kind of costume which is worn mostly by teenagers and is considered out-dated) appears to be on top of the priority list of actress Sameera Reddy. The lissome lass finally got to realize her ‘childhood’ dream while shooting for her upcoming film ‘Vettai’ in Lingusamy’s direction.
Sameera Reddy, who is equally busy in Kollywood and Bollywood, has a couple of Tamil films under various stages of production in Tamil. She has ‘Vedi’ opposite Vishal and directed by Prabhu Deva and ‘Vettai’ which has Madhavan, Arya and Amala Paul as her co-stars.
Sameera always had the desire to put on a half-saree (‘dhavani’) in one of her films. As she performed mostly urban characters in all her films so far which required her to wear either salwar khameez or a pair of jeans and tops, she didn’t get any opportunity to don the costume. Some sequences in ‘Vettai’, though, provided Sameera the perfect opportunity to put on ‘paavadai-dhavani’.
She is also extremely delighted about the fact that she got the chance to appear in an entire song and even indulge in some dancing with the paavadai-dhavani attire. It’s a song showing the actress in a jolly mood wherein she indulges in all kinds of antics, it is said. Sameera and Amala play sisters in the film.
Aren’t we happy that Sameera’s long-cherished dream was realized?
